Peace through play
Dude man, may write more at length later, but for now, I hear ya.
I think all in all, the average human being has a good heart. Everyone wants happiness, and no one wants suffering. Everyone wants a roof over their head, food in their belly, some one to love, and someone to be loved by.
The Dalai Lama actually once said that we don't need smart bombs for large groups of people, we only need smart bullets, for the few trouble makers and leaders that start all the trouble. As for everyone else, chess is a process to be shared...and it doesn't matter what part of the world you're from, what beliefs you hold, what the color of your skin is.
The world is getting smaller. People thousands of miles away, across the globe, are fast becoming our neighbors. And I'm glad to be alive in this day and age when I can play chess with them.
Including Dudes from Detroit who consistently take my queen. (laughing)
Agreed. The only barrier to play chess is learning how, not where you come from or who you are inside. That is the spirit that will hopefully one day unite the world.
logan .. exept that I despise anyone that beats me and I declare war on the country they originate from :D at least for the first hour after the loss...
...jk jk
To quote, "Imagine all the people, living life in peace", from the late John Lennon, wouldn't it be wonderful. Bringing people together from all nations to play together is a wonderful start. Chess is a game of war, but it teaches us peaceful means of how to get along with each other. Every time I lose a game, I learn something. I don't hold it against my opponent. I thank them.
LET'S TEACH THE WHOLE WORLD CHESS!

I was all for peace, until you quoted John Lennon...
I agree with all of you on the thoughts expressed.
A small response, though, to TheDude108's comment:
Everyone wants ......... some one to love, and someone to be loved by.
......and may the two never meet!
When I quoted John Lennon it was because he was for peace. Read between the lines. That song also says, "Imagine no religion". It is because of religion that most wars start. I'm not saying I don't belive in religion. I'm saying I believe in peace.

I am just pretty crabby towards the Beatles, the 60's, all those hippies that became the establishment--hate that stuff. I like the line you quoted, "Imagine no religion", quite a bit
