Can we make this thread invisible for DrSpudnik? Staff please
HA! Too late!
And now I got saddled on a team that actually thought the English was a good idea to befuddle Estragon. As I always say, if you want a draw, play for a win.
But what really gets my goat is that nonsense WW I revisionism. The 1918 "Big Push" campaign of the Germans would have broken through without the US troops there. France would have fallen and the Kaiser would have dominated the continent from the Ukraine to the Pyrenees.
Why oh why are they always from the USA?????
Because we dont have the luxary of wasted time .To busy bailing out other countries.
I feel the pain sometimes but most are I realizen are working and the time zones get fuzzy. On the other hand I almost started a war over vacations after 24 moves over 2 months and 2 days.So be carefull LOL.Ive posted please no frequent vacationeers. Also I m only chooseing tournys with no vacation time.So in the end there is something here for all Ive learnt.Even the mudracking and some comments are entertaining.Good luck
Why oh why are they always from the USA?????
its just their culture, picking on the weak and downtrodden to appear strong. I think here in the England its not like that, pick on the weak to look like a wally! of course its just a generalisation
I also have to wait on one of my games, even though I'm going to win it. To prevent you having to retrace your steps each time you can use the notes system next to the board. It's very useful to save potential lines you've been thinking about or other notes.

It is a pity that such silly things are said without full information. The people in those discussions are involved in a terrible match against each other and these discussions are part of their psychological warfare... You do not have enough information to judge them... ;-)
I just finished a game here that has been on-going for two years.
Now back to topic.
As an American, I rip off the sleeves of my t-shirts, use my truck as a hot tub, wear a cowboy hat, eat Burger King on a daily basis (super-size me), fck yeah football (lol rugby), Nascar is awesome, my favorite store is Walmart, and I live in a trailor park.

lol Conquistador - two years wow - is that a record?
so what about the "special relationship" between our countries (UK&US)?
hadn't expected the thread to turn as it did - still trying to work out how people taking inordinate amounts of time over their moves relates to anti-/pro- American sentiments
I don't see why nationalities have to be brought up here. Sure, go ahead, say that some guy is a dumb American. But don't say "This guy is a dumb American; therefore, all Americans are dumb." Maybe one American is an imbecile; maybe another one is smart; you can only find out on a person-by-person basis.
to the op, I was excited when I took up chess over a year ago and signed up for a tournament without really reading about it. There are three players here that take the entire 14 days everytime. They have a ton of games going on and just wait until the time is close, make a move, and then forget about the game, but when I check their profile they are on every day. http://www.chess.com/tournament/alans-tournament
I wish I had never joined this thing, but I really can't judge them for playing within the rules. The one guy that keeps going on vacation is a little frustrating though...
Yeah, that seriously sucks. I think it's amazing that you get a warning notice when you enter a no vacation tournament, but for long tourneys like these there is no warning that this thing can last for years, and for free and gold members you are limited in the number of tournaments you can play.
