People Who Refuse to Resign and Time Down Losing Positions - What Can be Done?

Does Chess.com have any way of penalizing players who refuse to resign and time down losing positions?

Short of it be a big coincidence (like they had to use the restroom suddenly) or anything else I'm missing, it just seems like these players are acting like sore losers and hurting the winning player by wasting their time without a legitimate reason.  We have to wait (sometimes quite a while) for that player's clock to run out before we can move on to a new game (for unpaid members at least).

Perhaps you should be thankful, that all is being wasted, is your time.

What do you mean?

Sure, but are you by chance excusing this stalling behavior?

It wastes players' time, which is the most valuable thing a person has.  I could be doing x, y, z with my time if not for having to wait minutes when this players stall and time down absolutely losing positions (e.g., a lone white king and pawn against a black king, queen, rook, and knight).

If ever you had any doubt whether there was zero correlation between chess and intelligence, just take a look around these forums, many people are incredibly dumb.

There's not much one can do, except to not play the wastrel again.

Suck it up and move on, it's easier that way.

I experience this frequently; like right now. Do what I do - use your opponent's time to recheck you game. Or just be patient if the victory is yours. There's really nothing you can do about it.

It's their time....  You signed up for it when you selected the time control.....   As for what can be done...  Here you can choose from this thread

Well, if it's a very winning position like K+R and pawn vs K, you can set the pre-move option, and make a lot of premoves. Cut the king with rook and push the pawn until 8th. The same applies if your opponent stop playing at a checkmate in one or 2 moves. You make the pre-moves and leave the computer like a boss.

Stop whining, that's what can be done about it. You agreed to the time.

DalkerKD

you're only rated 1191... this is not as an attack statement, as my live rating is lower than that... its just that at that level blunders happen quite frequently, and even if you are up in material, there is still a good chance you will make a mistake and they can come back, so they will not resign.

Please everyone relax and be yourself.

That's not nice at all you should try to relax and be yourself sometime.

Huh. I'm waiting for this thread to get interesting. I sympathize with you, buddy. Sometimes people just need to resign.

OP...I am in the situation of imminent checkmate by an opponent. However, he insists on being abusive. Therefore, I will now use vacation to stall him, so that he is frustrated.

What a waste of good vacation time! You are just reacting to his foul behavior and giving something up that you could use later for better purposes...

Just mate him, block him and move on with all of your vacation time intact - just saying...

It does spoil this site that bad behaviour is rewarded, bad losers can just let their clocks run down.

Well whay van be done about it? They have time, you can't prove they aren't thinking about how to lure you into a blunder, or try to lure you into stalemating him ...

Pulpofeira

Bad losers can do that even OTB if they want, the site can't be blamed for it.

Well, put yourself in their shoes. How would you like it of they said to you "Please resign, I'm clearly winning." How do you know the position is lost? Usually you'd need a computer program to determine is a position really is lost, and many so called "lost" positions can spring back to life.
