Are data available to tell how popularity of Chess960 is increasing or decreasing on chess.com?
Something like this: "In 2024 12% of games were Chess960. In 2023 it was 9%. In 2022 it was 7%."
I'm not aware of anything like that has ever been released.
This is a great question, and I would like to know the answer as well. Seems to be slowly increasing, if I were to guess. The Freestyle GOAT tournament helped to repopularize it. Also, please see my PETITION 960 post on these forums; the aim is to make the 960 option more visible to players. Thank you very much.
