I disagree with many post on this thread. my pit wrecks is a registered police service dog and I go with him in the field everyday. I trust him with my life and he is also trained to gently paw at my mothers chest if she forgets her cpap machine( she has brain damage from a car accident) and I would not think twice about leaving him home to protect my family. its the irresponsible people who give this breed a bad name! and I am so sorry you were attacked by the way. I believe there are people who shouldn't have the breed myself! but its no different than owning a Chihuahua really.
