What is (BETA) and how is is different than normal chess?

Beta is where chess.com tries out new features in a live setting. Sometimes, things don't work properly. You are expected to help them identify the problems before they are rolled out to the rest of the membership.

@notmtwain, the OP isn't in the beta, at least not in the club anyway.

That said, sometimes the site rolls out features to a subset of the membership, in addition to those in the beta group, to get more eyes on it an elicit more feedback and bug reports, along with just stress testing the code.

That feature is one that will eventually combine the Live and Daily play screens into a unified area.

If you have problems with it you can report them but you can also switch back to the regular live interface by choosing the Live Chess link in the Play menu.
