I haven't studied for years and when I did "study" it was nothing comparable to the training regimens I see posted in the forums.

I don't study, other than opening lines, but I try to play a game every day. Now my talent isn't on the level of Capablanca, but I do pretty well.

People who don't study can get to decent levels in online speed chess, but they are almost always failing at OTB classical chess.
To be good at blitz vs. classical are very different things. The second requires a lot more finesse and ability to play stronger moves when given enough time. Experience simply playing matters much less in classical than in online blitz.
