players who hit and run...

I almost never give my opponent an immediate rematch, especially if I don't know him personally. I always want to look over the game I just played before doing anything else, and I don't particularly like playing the same people over and over again. I will do this regardless of the result of the game.

ive got attitude in my game it has been helpful, to be a fighter u gotta have that aura of a winner and believe it and its selfish but the objective is to completely destroy in a fight or chess so losing to me isnt cool in either, im not ok with being some chump and obviosly if get schooled in chess im good enought to realize, if a player doesnt let me rematch because i sense they have doubt they cant walk way feeling like a true winner when they are being called out, i realize we have lives but if its possible to rematch its best to do that and shut them up if u believe u got the skills to back it up, for a competitive person who fights they should have that fighting spirit because ive also competed ive had one amatuer fight only but i know the competitiveness it takes to win u gotta do what other people wont do u gotta love something and want it more than then next guy and to hate losing but not as much as the love of winning

Ah I know people like you, they spout similar nonsense to justify being rude and obnoxious

Strangely, I have noticed that in real life, the ones that use the most the "winner" rhethoric are precisely the ones that are worth nothing.

Maybe competent people just shut up. That would explain forums.

Ha, from an 'ancient astronaut theorist'. (profile page)

Is that your real occupation ? Beware, I might be tempted to ask vicious physics questions.

A rematch is good if it was a tightly fought game won closely on the clock maybe, a bit of a hollow victory. More annoying are the people who when the going gets tough early on instead of an early resignation leave you hanging about for a few minutes just in case they come back.

I never offer a rematch, for a very simple reason.  I often play Chess, always Blitz on chess.com, as just a way of taking a break from whatever I am doing, or as a last ritual before going to bed.  In other words, I rarely want to spend more than 10 minutes playing Chess on line.

On those rare occasions when I have more time than that, I usually like to play a game, and then immediately analyze it to see how I could have done better.  Since it's blitz, that usually involves comparing my opening moves to the recommended book moves.

So don't take it personally if I don't offer a rematch.

I do usually accept one offer, unless I really, really, don't have time, especially if I won, and even more so if I won by "getting lucky" (i.e. by taking advantage of an obvious blunder by my opponent.)

Likewise I don't demand any, and even if I do, im not concerned if they reject it.

Wait, why would you "demand" a rematch if you're not concerned about being rejected? I get the feeling you're just trolling, especially with accusing those who like a fair chance with both colors as being "insecure". If anything, the person who only plays as white and never allows a rematch where they have to play as black is the one being "insecure".

Also I've played over 20,000 blitz games, and the number of times in my life where my opponent loaded an engine on the rematch can be counted on one hand. It's incredibly rare to have that happen. So rare in fact that it's really not a valid argument to make. Dare I say you're being "insecure" about that?

Comprehension not a strong point?

If i found the way they play instructive I may send a rematch offer, if they decline my offer it doesn't bother me, I just move on, like any normal person would.

Is that really difficult for you to understand?

Less people cheat in blitz, I only play 15 minutes+.

I suspect a lot of people that don't play a rematch in blitz, yet stay online to continue playing others are doing so out of cowardess. Now I know that's a harsh thing to say, but we have to be honest about this. Countless times I've had players with white pull some cheapo or get me on an early mouse slip and then immediately decline a rematch. You know, like 20 seconds of chess was just so emotionally draining for them that they cannot take another game

When I play online blitz, I will allow a rematch so long as my opponent played respectfully and honorably. By this I mean they resigned when obviously dead-lost and didn't make me play out some trivial ending. If they do that and then ask for a rematch, they get declined. Otherwise I'll at least play 3 games per opponent (I do my blitzing on the playchess server).

I totally agree with you.  Sometimes playing one game doesn't prove who's the better opponent, and it's safe to say that most lower rated players who win and run are afraid of getting defeated in rematches because they know that their victories are flukes.  They're cowards!  I've had players leave the chat area before I could even click the rematch button.  That's how quickly they run out of there.  I also don't accept rematch offers from players who make me chase their king around the board.

I've played 50,000 and I need both hands.

If I agree with Omar, there cannot be another side. Sorry losers; you lose. Omar and I agree on this one.

Hey, I'm Omar! (or at least, I was).

Just set your attitude to 'cool' and life will go so much easier.

asvpcurtis

if you get butthurt because someone won't give you a rematch thats your problem you aren't entitled to a rematch and crying about it is just as bad as crying cause little timmy won't share his crayons with you get over it

AndyClifton

Or better yet, get a paper route and then you can buy one of those jumbo-sized boxes of crayons (the ones with the sharpener)...and then when little Timmy comes along wanting to borrow your Atomic Tangerine or Purple Pizzazz, you can tell him to go get screwed!

asvpcurtis

lol but little timmy is the spoiled brat with rich parents and already has all the new toys and when his birthday comes around he invites everyone in the class except you even the stinky girls and the boy that always picks his nose in class and gets everybody to always pick you last when they are picking teams for soccer. :P
