Playing Against the computer

Ok I was playing on chessmaster grandmaster edition and I was playing against a 921 rated guy and I think this was a little unfair, we a were playing 10 min match and the computer made a whole games worth of moves within 4-5 seconds. Which I went on to lose the game because I ran out of time, Which I would of won because the computer only had his king left and I had just promoted two pawns to queens. Nomally during a game you would of time to think in between moves so I wouldn't run out of time, but not when the computer makes its moves within tenths of a second, it doesn't give you much time consindering I'm a very amature player.

Anyway what are your thoughts on this, I don't really want to extend the time because 10min matches seem pretty standard.

extend the time.  10 minute matches are not "pretty standard".  I know fans of 1 minute, 2 minute, 3 minute, 5 minute, 10 minute, 15 minute, 30 minute etc. etc. games.  I would say I see more people playing G/5 then anything else.

Lol I guess I will have to when playing the computer

People playing that short of games are basically play chess for pleasure, not for achieving a high level of play. If you want to improve, take as much time as you need.

I have consistantly 10 games going of online play.... that's where I focus on improving my game...

Then I go into live play and I personally like a 5 min game because it keeps you on your toes and if your taking too long you can lose on time.... but I play 1 min, 2 min, 5 min, 10 min, and 20 min.... mostly for pleasure as Bardu said, but for improvement I usually play a 3 day/move game...

That is a good idea ayanks03

Anyway since I'm just looking to improve I guess I shouldn't worry about time, like you said most people play with shorter time limits for pleasure.
