Playing chess while reading a book

AndyClifton, very profound rebuttal there.  I see this conversation was over before it began.

Waffllemaster, would you say that your mood affects your chess performance?  I personally seem to play poorly after having a bad day, but it could be just me.  You see where I'm going with this...?

Oh, if only, if only...

And speaking of profundity...your mood affecting your performance?  Wow.  I sense some more grant money is about to get sucked up by the Scientific Research Committee shop-vac.

Since you have like, you know, no valid retort...can you like, you know, stfu?

AndyClifton

No I can't.  Just consider it more evidence that you're collecting in that data-hungry maw of yours.

You're undoubtedly single.  Or twelve.  One of the two, lol.

Reading a book while playing Chess --- interesting idea. Mind you the way most of my Chess games seem to go I think that I should be having a nap during the game ( would probably improve the outcome too  rofl ).

Tut-tut.  You'll have to run some studies first...

No need.  I'm absolutely certain you don't get laid on the regular.

AndyClifton

Oh, unlike you, Lilith? lol

Still you have achieved a distinction of a sort.  I don't think I've ever before seen anyone paler than this person:

Is it just me, or does that "Queen of Knight" chick seem very "American," and not very Brazilian?

Getting there, for sure.

Wow, you gotta work on your insults, dude.

If by pale you mean olive-complected, then sure...I'm pale.  lol.

This thread is full of beautiful women!

LOL...vc prefere q eu fale em Portugues?

Yes, I am Brazilian.  Born and raised in Rio.  Been in the states since I was five.  Next question?

johnmusacha

Oh my god!  I'm impressed!  We should play chess together sometime!  As a South Florida native, I have nothing but the highest esteem for Brazilian women!

Queen_of_Knight

Johnmusacha, I have to respectfully decline for now, unless it's unrated.  I fear I have to do much more studying to be on your level.

I just learned about a year ago...

Not sure how long some of the higher-rated players around here have been playing...but I do know my skills pale in comparison.  For now... :)

I definitely blunder more from OVER focusing and fatigue than from lack of focus.  So training my thoughts somewhere else (like a book) while my opponent plays wouldn't be disastrous.   (30+ Min and up time controls of course)

Depend's on the player,  but I'd say it's an interesting thought.

To Johnmusacha:

You missed 29...Rg4 mate (you played 29...Rxc4).

As Lasker once said: "If you see a good move, don't play it.  You might have a better one."
