Please help...weird
Hi,
I have been playing chess for about let's say 2 years now, and I don't know what a king is when they refer to the king in the game, where to find it? I never found it, I have been looking for it for over 2 years actually...what is going on here...
Maybe you lost the King in your chess set 2 years ago?
I really don't get this.
You are looking for the king for 2 years and you can't find it?
Is this suppose to be funny and makes us laugh?
Do you know all the other pieces?
If you know which is the rook ,the knight , the bishop and the queen then there is one you don't know it's name .That one is the king.
Do you have 2 Queens of each color? The King may be... well, a nice dresser.
Hmmm, doesn't the king have a cross on the top of his head? I'm a little confused under which circumstance, then, the King is technically a "cross" dresser.

Either way, he's doomed to terminology persecution.
Maybe this'll help, from a game which you won ... You see those two round things with crosses on their heads in the bottom right hand corner? They're the kings! The black one's yours, and the white one's just been mated by your rook! (the one with the knobbly head).
You've probably been wondering why every game suddenly stops at some random point or other - this is the reason, one of the kings has been mated! That's a complicated thing to explain though and I#m too tired, it'll need another thread.
Hope things are clearer now!
The best I can think of is to find a cute beetle or something, paint a crown on its back and keep it in a tiny glass jar which you then use as your king when playing chess. You'd obviously need to have two in store, one light coloured and one darkish. Don't know what your opponent would think of it, but he may enjoy getting to squash it when he mates you ...
