points

It depends on the rating of your opponent. The higher their rating, the more points you get for a win, the fewer you lose for a loss.

The quick and dirty version is you get some fraction of 20.
For beating an equally rated opponent you get half of that = 10
Beating 100 points higher is 2/3
200 points is 3/4
300 points is 5/6
(think of the progression like 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6)

New players or inactive players are considered to have unreliable ratings, so they get a multiplier. The newer or more inactive you are, the bigger the multiplier. A new account may win over 100 points for winning 1 game (or lose over 100 for losing 1 game). And the more they play, the closer it will get to winning and losing the normal amount.
