(Poll) Where do you see GM Wei Yi five years from today?

Do you think Wei Yi will become the World Champion? To be honest, I think he will definitely be a strong contender for the title, but not so sure if he will be good enough to defeat Magnus. What do you think?

Five years he will be top 10, he will play magnus within ten years.

Hard to say, some people keep getting better, some plateau.

Bu Xiangzhi, Radjabov and Karjakin were the strongest prodigies in the world when they entered the teens, but none of them have been close to the title yet. Wei Yi is quite promising but it's far from certain that he ever will get close to a title match.

Radjabov was 15 when he won with black against Kasparov in Linares, and 16 when he won with black against Anand in Dortmund. It still remains to be seen how well Wei Yi will do when he finally gets to play the top players.

Wei Yi will definately be at the top. World champion... I think he is the junior that has the MOST chance of getting that title but not sure if he will get the title.

After watching a few of his games ive noticed he has something that is really lacking in chess today-creativity. Right now most chess games are decdied within the opening! He throws all of that out the window and takes risks. he reminds me of a mikhail tal

I can see him playing chess in five years. Or maybe picking up a relaxing hobby like hikaru dorodango.

I know a lot of headhunters/HR people, and they all like to say that they really like asking this question (and yes, they know you don't know). They are much more interested in how you make your projections rather than how accurate it is.

I see myself hanging up on this interview in 5 seconds.

I see him getting much stronger in the next 18 months. This will draw even more attention to him as well as stress but also chicks. He will start dating one and on their third date ,after dinner at the local Wings and Ribs place ,he will find a message in a fortune cookie that simply says ...." soon"

WTH kinda message will that be. It could be both good or bad!? it could mean so many things!!

In the next six month he will slowly start losing , not concentrating while this obscure message will eat away at him. Eventually his relationship with the girl will fall apart and he will start drinking.

One or two quick run-ins with the law ,losing the girl and some really bad publicity sees him attempting a bank robbery with a water pistol and he ends up spending 2 years in jail. Six months later he is working at the local Wings and Ribs place and never makes the news again.

I might be wrong on one or two things....like it might be a sushi joint instead.
