problem with getting on tilt in 3 minute blitz

I have been getting better at playing less blitz and more longer time controls but it seems like whenever I lose lets say 3 or more in a row, I completely start tilting and well the rest is history. Today I dropped about 90 points.

I know I should stop and have for today. I know I'll get the points back up in no time but is there anything I can do to stop this? I'm really disappointed in myself for getting angry when I lose.

Do you guys experience this as well?

that's exactly what I was doing for awhile and it only seems to last a few weeks then the damn temptation to play again. ah well, I just need to have some self control.

Yeah, it's pretty normal.

Sometimes I tell myself I'll quit after my next win... then of course it feels good to win so I think 1 more game wouldn't hurt, but that 1 more game sometimes starts another losing streak.

You can make plans to stop at a certain time or after so many games or something, but sometimes games are just upsetting, and we really want to try again, nothing we can do about it. When you care about something and work hard (in chess or anything) that's just how it goes sometimes happy.png

Although if you're spending 10 hours, or breaking things in frustration, then yeah, you have a problem heh. If not though, maybe just be willing to accept yourself, that sometimes you're going to react this way.

thanks for the reply poodle. I've been getting better at controlling my emotions, though I'm still not perfect. I'll be stopping blitz after this weekend for quite some time b/c I want to get a little better.
