problems with blindfold

I just played a game with the new blindfold chess set.

However, I wish there would be some improvements:

1. In the PGN is not written that I was playing blindfold, I wish it would be added, so at distance of one month, when I watch the game, I'd know why I played some silly moves.

2. wish there would be a way to challenge other players who also want to play blindfold. I believe in ICC they use different colored dots for different kind of games.

3. I read somewhere that the game should be unrated, but it was rated (luckily I won). Maybe it would be interesting to add a new blindfold rating in the statistics.

Here the game, of course it is silly, but just for fun.

How do you play with/activate this new blindfold setting? That sounds so cool!

I've got a set of blindfold pieces for sale...

You go in live chess, under settings, style, piece style, blindfold. It is a very good exercise, and I'd like to find more players who want to play blindfold.

Yes, I agree with all three of your suggestions. I played a couple games of it yesterday with a friend (very very funny games Laughing). But the problem is, it's just a new piece style, so you have to get someone to agree to using that as well before playing. But your suggestions would make it a whole new kind of game which I think would be great! Maybe post it in the suggestion forum. :)

Thanks Kohai for the prompt reply. And thanks again for providing such an exciting new feature, as amateurs now we really have a lot of tools to improve, thanks to chess.com

iacogio,

I did what you said and it worked! Then I went to man-versus-machine and tried to play the computer like you did, but I still see the pieces. So how did you do that?

Try again but go to the setting once you are in the game. I did it before and was able to see the pieces as well. You can also switch the settings back to normal midgame if you need to look.

I just played another game, and everything was like yesterday. Please check in settings.

Here is the game:

I can't see the pieces at all!  Very disappointed.  Please fix right away.

Making an invisible piece set and calling it blindfold seems like a lazy work around by chess.com development.  It's not true blindfold as the score sheet is visible and the squares of the last piece moved are highlighted.  Perhaps these two things should be rectified first.

I believe the true question is: Why the mother of the trolls is always pregnant?

I believe chess.com gave to those interested in playing blindfold a very good tool, and of course they will improve it in the future. I also don't think it is fair to call them "lazy" since you didn't contribute at all to the chess community, while they are working hard and being criticized by trolls like you.

Amber blindfold tournament for top GMs lets them look at an empty board and make moves Tongue out

I agree with iacogio, it's a good tool to practice.  If you don't like it then look away from the screen while thinking about your move.

jaedrez

I completely agree with the three suggestions of iacogio.

I like the idea of having a separate blindfold rating. I don't think I would be able to play correspondence chess whilst blindfold but in live I would give it a go :)

Blindfold correspondence?! Lets see... this was my 5th game... I started it 2 months ago... move 21 he has played Nd4.  Hmm... I have no idea where any of the pieces are... [resigns].

Game 6... I started it 2 weeks ago... move 17. R3d3... I don't remember him having any rooks in the game... [resigns].

etc lol

You could probably look at the move list but yeah I could easily picture me in the senario you just described >.<
