C'mon lets keep this topic going.

Are you the "wouldn't you like to fly in my beautiful baloon" type of Fifth Dimension or another type of Fifth Dimension?

Best thing about Chess.com:  The People.  And their sense of humor.

MyCowsCanFly

Pretty sure "Fifth Dimension" is an alcohol effect.

I may have made that up...nevermind.

And if you see that Schrödinger guy, tell him to come get his cat.

Schrodinger can shove his cat.  Ignorance does not make something "is" and "isn't" at the same time.

You can get a computer analysis of your games by going to "your games archive" clicking on the game you want analyzed and once you go into it click on "computer analysis" It should say it is processing and it will send you an alert when it is done.

I guess as a free member you get 3 tactics trainer problems plus the daily puzzle so thats 4 problems a day.

I don't think that this is enough because a WGM ( Natalia Pogonina I think ) said that you should do a hour of tactics everyday.

Thanks for the info. I may get a membership for a month or two, just to see if I like it.

+It has some wonderful characters e.g. 'c' and 'e'

++ a great name (though -- "chess+com"[munity] would be even better)

++ updates appear constantly albeit -- at a slow rate and (usually) -- unannounced

-- my chess playing hasn't improved much because +the non-chess-playing features are too distracting/appealing!

I wanted to have like 200 concurrent games going on at the same time and realised how stupid the system is for adding opponents.

Not only does it take like 20 seconds to add a single opponent, but after you havent responded to 10 games you cant add anymore. ''unlimited games'' my balls.

AWARDCHESS has got 200 'slow chess' games in progress.

Is there a more efficent way of adding games that I don't know of?
Or is this a membership feature(Because if it is, I'll sign up)

In another site I'm able to have 500 games at oncea nd they're easy sa hell to add. here I've been stuck at 15 games becauuse the b********s always make their moves while I'm trying to add more people

Joining tournaments is one fast way of adding games; with a group size of 12 and both games played concurrently, that adds 22 games at a stroke. (Basic members are limited to 1 member-created tournament; gold members to 10; platimum and diamond get more).

Creating Open Seeks is a common way of starting games. Is there a limit of 20 Open Seeks at any time?

Accepting Open Seeks starts games. There's no limit there, AFAIK.

EDIT: You're talking about LiveChess games! Ignore what I just said!!

 Pro's and Con's of Chess.com

-- The entirely avoidable confusion between fast (OTB, LiveChess) chess games and slow (CC, Turn-based) games, particularly in the light of a plethora of alternative, appropriate-terminology.

Hey forum...In this topic I would like to discuss the pro's and con's of chess.com. I would also like to discuss what chess.com needs to work on. I would like for people who read this to post to think about what they like and dislike and then type it out and post it.  Here is a example:

What I like about chess.com :

1: Great Forum's

2: Tactics Trainer

3: Groups and Teams

4: Online chess and Live chess so you can chose your speed

What I don't like about chess.com :

1: If you don't have a premium membership you can only do 3 tactics trainer problems a day.

2: The iPhone/iPod Touch Application ( it is very slow )

3: "meebo"

Con:   I am so tired of solving a tactics problem only to told I'm wrong.   The problem is the analytical work is very sloppy and there are ofter two or more solutions.     I didn't renew my membership in protest against this sloppiness.   I just started playing again a year ago and at first I had a high tactics rating but as my play improves my rating falls - from the 2600s to the 2300s.
