Checkmate, even with 50+ queens on the board.

Rare case where the moved piece (pawn in this case) is not one of the two pieces giving check.

Yep, it's a double check. 2 of the 3 ways to get out of check are unavailable to you if you get double-checked (capturing the opponent's piece and blocking the check). The only way out of a double check is to move the king - if you can't, it's checkmate!

We cover this tactical theme and many more on the "Tactical Training" video on chesspathways.com - feel free to check it out if interested, I'd love to get your feedback!

Thank you so much @chesspathways.com there are some really dodgy coaches here so great to see a new one. I might take you up on something depending on prices.

this is the actual sitrep I was hoping for, relating to my first board in this thread of the game, seems unlikely but white to move:

my white bishop about to skip one square to the NW

so yeh, not exactly check mate at this point but it just made me wonder about the rules of this doubly checked poz. of course still then BF7 and KH8, QG7 QH5 if the K made it through the hole seems pretty solid,    xD

What is this called? If they can't block / remove both checking pieces at the same time, that's checkmate right?

Double-check. Sometimes, can result in checkmate.

gotcha, horsey checks always very dynamic and satisfying : D

Thanks spongey, I like how if the Queen went to the left He could just move the rook to be defended by the bishop instead of the other way round and still win with mate.
