There is some main lines in which the theory is to bring the queen out early so I wouldnt always get so cocky. Its always better just to focus on playing good chess moves.

Hi Phil, My sentiments are with you. I have tried using the Queen early on but with limited success. Only the novices fall to this sort of play. My experience has been that you loose your shape in building a good defence as you are always protecting the Queen.
But, then.. I am also just learning the game.

Does anyone else get a slight confidence boost when the opponent Queen comes out early? Anyone who is serious about chess knows that bringing the Queen out is a definite no-no, and know to either ignore the idle threats she poses or to chase her around the board while aiding development in an effort to capture her!
