Question about a perpetual check position

Good evening!

I have been working my way through Yasser Seirawan's "Winning Chess Tactics" book, and I came across a puzzle where he challenges black to find his way out of a position from Domuls-Staerman (USSR, 1978). The position is as follows:

 

The solution that the book offers is as follows:

 

However, I came up with a somewhat different solution:

I would like some other sets of eyes to let me know whether my logic in this second solution is sound, although I understand that it is technically less forcing than the book solution. Any insight is appreciated!

Actually, I found this sequence as a response from White after 1. ...Qxg3. I think I see why the more forcing solution is better!
