Hi all,

I am ordering this new chess set. Please have a look and advise. My concern if its going to be crowded or this sizing layout is ideal. happy.png

Board is Sheesham wood - 15 inches. Coins are ebony with King at 3.5 inches tall.

Thanks for your help in this. nullnullnull

Squares are too small for this particular chess pieces, so a bit crowded.

ChesterDog

Yes, looks too crowded to me.

Those are beautiful pieces. I have to agree with the others that it’s a bit crowded.

Also, the board is in the incorrect position. The h1 square should be a light square.

Thanks all. I will ask for a bigger board.

Hey all. Ordered a revised board which is 17 inches. See pic below. null

Need to see pics with all the pieces on it. I, like @verylate, also like a setup to be a little cramped but IMHO, the first setup was too cramped.

Can you post pics of the full setup on the new board?

oldmonk83

I will in a few days once i get it delivered from the shop. The comparison from pic 1, 2 and the last 2 in new setup shows the difference in size of boxes where king is placed. please have a look and let me know.

ChesterDog

Yes, much better.

Thanks all. Can you also verify is the coins are ebony - the black pieces? the vendor swears that they are.

Sorry for the multiple posts. Attached revised pics on 17 inch board. Let me know your thoughts. I have purchased this set. null

I like it but then I like slightly cramped setups. I think the thinness of the body of most of the pieces/pawns makes it work well.

Thanks guys. What's the average board length of chess boards the majority use? 15?

Nice board but you don’t need a nice one. you will lose a pawn or 2 and need a another set
