This is starting to remind me of a chapter from a book by Andy Soltis.  There was a chapter called "Resigns and other famous last words".  It's really a fun book to read with large parts not requiring deep chess knowledge, just interesting and quirky stories...

Though there does seem to be widespread agreement that 5 points down should be a forced resignation and it is gaining traction everywhere, I am almost on board myself now, since it is a good idea I expect to be convinced probably later on today.
