"Wildcat" tournaments
Yes, but since they arent sanctioned by either the FIDE or USFC, there are no Titled players or any rating points to worry about...
No, they have trophies at the end for all the top players, but nothing more. If it's non scactioned, what would you expect?
Well, the thing is, I've actually organized a couple of them here in Miami. You set up a venue and do a "pay to play" system. Put all the money in a "kitty" (pot) to distribute, but I took a third of it, and told them it was for "overhead" and shit.
you could win some cash by going to a college campus and sitting down in the rec room or cafeteria with a chessboard and a sign that says $5 dollars a game, $20 dollars back if you win. Of course you would need a timer because the average person is used to taking all day and that would give you a heads up.
Money
It's a gas
grab that cash with both hands and make a stash

So there are officially sponsored USCF and FIDE tournaments here in the US. Are you aware of non-sanctioned tournaments? Tournaments, in other words, that are conducted outside the purview of FIDE or any national federation?
