Has no one tried it? Is it a Danish invention? The company has a Danish homepage too, anyways. It looks like an intersting chess variant.
Raindrop chess review?
Played it first time yesterday. We used a normal deck of cards:
1-4 for pawns (all doubles)
V for Rooks (V=5)
10 for bishops, a red and a black for white and black squares
9 for knights
and a queen and king for king and queen.
One takes all black cards except one red 10, the other takes red cards and a black ten.
I liked it. It's a completely different game with the same pieces. You'll have to play a few times before some of the depth becomes clear.
My friend is a lot better than me but this game equalizes a lot. With raindrop, most games are tight wins for him rather than outright wins. I even managed to win once.
It looks fun!
Has anyone tried it?:
