Well, maybe 'beginner' is too weak (perhaps it's intended for the under 1000 crowd).
Suggestion, tackle the 'next level' higher but go slow. Don't expect any significant improvement in less than several months.

After studying the beginner opening section for study plan on chess.com, my rating decreased from 1450 to 1300. Do you have any idea why that happened? I heard somewhere that knowing more may confuse and affect the games negatively in the beginning. Is it true?
