My trick is I don't play live games anymore. Daily Games are nice because you have more time to accept your loss, and find ways to save it. The cap for brain power put into your game is a lot higher, that's why I enjoy it.

I just kind of stagnate for a few weeks then gain 100 points in 7 days

Play unrated games-- the tilt has not power

I feel like when you reach a new benchmark (1500, 1600, etc) you go back down and it takes awhile to “adjust” and stay above the mark.

yes thast exactly howI feel I'm adjusting to 1500 range players then I hit 1700 and I fall back again and adjustto 1600 players

I would suggest you to watch some titled players game when tilted. That helps us to gain confidence and we improve our chess and visualising skills.
