Rating Points Explained???

I'm curious about how awarded or deducted rating points are determined. Do point values vary depending on the conditions of the victory or defeat. For example if you checkmate earlier in the game rather than later are you awarded differently? Does material points affect the rating points? How about time remaining? Many questions arose when I considered the the determining factors. However the primary reason for the post is more specific. Do rating points vary depending the victory condition such as an abandoned game vs a resignation or a checkmate? Any insight into this would be appreciated, however any additional info is also welcome. Thanks in advance.

The only things that matters is the result (win, lose, draw), the ratings of the players, and their respective rating deviation values.
