support does actually reply most of the time

SparKer_7

do a virus checkup first using mcafee or something

MaetsNori

That's definitely malware. Do a full system scan with whatever security software you have - it should be able to identify and resolve the issue.

i think it might be that the chess.com website is compromised but only for australia but I'll try do a scan anyways

Do you answer a lot of phishing e-mails? You said you use opera gx. You'll get much better results if you just use Google Chrome. By far the most common method for hackers and state-sponsored hacking organizations to spread malware is through phishing emails. Hackers have become incredibly skilled at crafting emails that trick employees into clicking on links or downloading a file that contains malicious code.

It's possible a malicious ad is being served by the third-party ad network. Do you you notice a specific ad just before it happens by chance?

sometimes it happens when I'm midgame, and during game there are no ads, so most likely not the reason.

And you have tried other browsers with the same result?

if you scroll up, someone else who uses google also has the same issue so it's most likely not the browser

Martin_Stahl

Staff are looking into the possibility it's a malicious ad causing problems.

Ad code with a delayed payload certainly can cause something like that. It's not something the site is doing.
