reinstating a Timeout

Hi all, was wondering if the possibility to reinstate a game and remove a timeout wold be wanted or possible? that is a game witch is time out could, if agreed between both players, reinstated (not changing the rating, but classed as a new game) Thereby removing the time out and playing to the finish. Wat do you think?

I think instead of doing as you suggested it would make more sense to request a rematch which at the end of any game is already programmed to happen if you request it and your opponent agrees.  I have one opponent that I have played 3 times.  I won one.  He won one.  We had one draw.  The other option would be for both of you to agree to a draw.  And start a new game.

That was not the question, a game lost by time out shuld be bade posibel to continu

Oh no!!! do you mean if the game is timed out, because you did not or your opponant did not get back in time to finish it, you should be able to ask to reinstate the game?   If this is what you want changed I would say no. Otherwise we could have members coming back anytime saying they could not get back to the game for some reason or other, and what with lots of people on this site already complaining about vacation times,......times taken over each move,....... we will also have people whinging about, "I couldn't get back to the board on time, so I did not really lose".   'Give us a break' If you take on an opponant and agree you are playing 24hrs, 3-5-7-14 day chess then its your responsiblity to get back to the board before your time runs out. We do not need to change this rule.

Its only a suggestions, that has to be agreed by both players, you still have a lose, and your rating is unchanged, And if you reinstate a game you were bound to lose, you'd only lose again. The game lost in timeout continues to be lost, but it may be fun to finish it (giving a new win/loss)

I would say no to reinstating a game after a timeout, time is a factor in chess, a win on time is a valid win.

well yes, Butthe idea is to remove a time out (if both agree) you have still lost a game

we have now made it so that if you DONT want to automatically claim a timeout win, you can change that in your settings here: http://www.chess.com/home/echess_settings.html

(see the Auto-Win on Time checkbox)

This is why gameknot.com is beetter.  They allow you to reinstate a timeout as a new game while still honoring the results of the timeout.

I agree that it is better the way they handle timeouts. It should be mentioned thought that it can only be reinstated upon the opponent's agreement, which seems obvious, but this is the internet Wink

Can't you just agree to play the same moves, in an unrated game?
