Rematches

Why do hardly any of the players on this site play rematches, win or lose, they leave and refuse ?

The fact that there are players with names like [username removed] go to show what the overall experience of the manners on this site are like. Chess - not at it's best.

1. Considering that you are rated 1286, I would not dare judge chess.com. 2. You should not judge a person by their username. 3. A lot of people are tired after playing a game. Others need to go somewhere. Another example would be smokers who need a smoke break or a kid who wants to eat a snack. 4. People here accept rematches constantly. 5. Maybe they don't want to play a weak player like yourself.

1. My rating, I've played one rated game, the rest are live - what was your rating after your first game ? Maybe people on the lower rungs are unpleasant - but how would you know from way up there ?

2. Why not ?

3. So most people on here are tired, smoke, have kids - but on other sites they don't ?

4. maybe as before mentioned not on this bottom rung

5. oh the shame - why don't we play a game ? Or don't you play such weak players, but not some slow 3 week game a good 5 minute game - are you up for teaching me a lesson ? (and they are rated less and more just by the way in live chess so it's not a rating thing)

My games I play on here are generally not fun. Very few rematches, only rude comments, no "good game", no "thanks" nothing. I suppose it could be the fact that I only play 3 minute and 5 minute games - I do have kids, don't smoke and only play when I have time for a few games. I started the topic to get some feedback and see where I was going wrong, I compare this to other sites and I think Chess.com sucks a bit - but I started a discussion. You don't need to be a dick. Reading the comments on people's profiles show a lot of rudeness and swearing.

Buddy, live chess is RATED. Live chess is experience. You have played MANY games, and yet have that rating....which to your credit is higher than most on chess.com.

Just enjoy the game.

again - a fun game but no rematch - yes I love chess but here I don't enjoy it as much. The whole "no rematch thing" is like not shaking hands and walking away from the table, why on other sites do people comment more ? I think it must be the low rating games/players.

You challenged Kingsize0887 (1197): 5|0 rated. You play black.

Kingsize0887 declined your challenge.

Games at higher ratings are MUCH more intense. After such intense play (unless it was a one minute bullet game), players often want a small break in between games to "refuel" so to speak. At lower ratings, people rematch considerably more often, statistically. Have you watched GMs play games? After the game, they shake hands quickly and DO NOT just suddenly leave to go play another game.

on [another site] people will play a few games and comment and be normal, here people do not have rematches and can be rude. It just is like that. These games I play are only 3 and 5 minute games, hardly taxing and another thing playing a few games with one person can be really fun. I would ideally like to play five games. I have played a few games with the same people and even when getting beaten, it's a lot more fun.

I don't like playing the same person twice. Why is it rude that I want variety?

After spending 10 minutes playing a game, would saying good game, thanks, or any comment be too much ? it is not rude to want variety. My post is about why people that I have encountered on this particular site have so few comments and rematches. The only differences I can see between this and [another site] are : This site is much busier and the other that on the Blitz section of [the other site] you play differntly rated players, here the players are evenly matched. [Over there] you can play a 2200 player and then a 1500 player and then a 1200 player. People there are much more likely to play another game with you and have comments or say hello at the start. I wouldn't even be here if there were more games on [the other site]. I really enjoy playing chess, my overall experience here is one of people being very cold to rude. I look at people's profiles after playing and the comments are quite rude - sure there are pleasant ones too though. I'll copy and paste some when I play again.

I saw the forum and thought I'd see what people on here think. This thread has by far been a lot more pleasant than any other interactions on here.

Another thing is that I play for free so why am I complaining ? I just want to have a better experience, maybe then I would join.

Chess is war.....during war, should you expect your enemy to kiss you and give you roses after the game?

People are here for chess, not small talk.

If there was a user by the name of "dog*&#^face", they're gone now - cleaned up by the mods, probably.

Obviously I'm not being forced to stay here - I just find the etiquette lacking IN COMPARISSON to [that other site]. I wouldn't want to chat, but the simple gg - rematches and no vulgar insults would make the experience more enjoyable. I'm not making a mountain out of a molehill, look at the comments on this guys page : https://www.chess.com/member/schuminier

more nice stuff on this guys profile:

lovely stuff and that's what waits for you on chess.com daily. People with no etiquette - this is the kind of stuff that I'm talking about. No gg, no thanks - no rematch and every so often rudeness.

I hear what you all say though. Looks like chess.com is just a bit untidy.

Hello Robin,

Please note that Chess.com policy is that we do not discuss or compare Chess.com to our competitors - positively or negatively - in our own forums, so I have removed those references from your earlier posts while trying to preserve the meaning.

With any offensive content you see on the site, please report it via Help --> Report Abuse, and it will be taken care of; please don't reproduce it in the forums, as that just publishes the offensive material more widely. Our moderators are mostly volunteers, so we do miss stuff.

yeah the obscenity if awful.  and if you like someplace else- I can't begin to guess why you play here.

but I echo Many other people's big point.

declining a rematch Isn't Rude - it Isn't obscenity and it isn't an insult in any way.  one might decline a rematch cause you have to go the bathroom- your tired- OR you just want a different kind of game.

its always cute to paint this as an issue of bravery or courtesy.  but it doesn't work.  if you PLAY a new random opponent your just as likely to find someone harder  and with this all being the internet....

even in a chess club kind of setting.  its not normal to INSIST upon a rematch, and during a tournament Rematches NEVER occur.  so even OTB these kinds of comparisons don't work.

Because you have a great imagination?

You have an uncle that does that?

You have an aunt that does that?

Just throwing out guesses here ...
