If a player insulted me in game chat. is there any way to report him/her ?

Bonsai_Dragon

Your mother doesn't work here. Delete the comment, block the player, move on.

This link should never have been provided... advice to disable chat / ignore it would be much better.

Was he right with his words? If yes then that was no insulting, just telling facts.

Why's that?  If a member is getting abuse and no member should be subjected to that the right people to deal with it is support.

Cherub_Enjel

My personal opinion - ignoring "abuse" is a much better weapon than getting outraged over it. If you remember it's the internet, and that there are sore losers everywhere, you won't get subjected to anything.

I have just had a game with an American..right from the off he started baiting me. I thought it funny. clearly a tactic to distract from the game..After a few exchanges where I concentrated on his Intellect /education he soon shut up...Don't report these people play them at their own silly game...They are the ones with the issues.

Or just ignore them..

So assuming that person really did insult him, which is likely but so often here player prefer to shame other people due to a bad attitude themself, then I really wonder why they ask this here instead of looking for something like hotline/support or alike.

And on the other hand there are weak people complaining about nearly everything and treating every different opinion as trolling. Instead of facing the world and trying to handle even difficult times in life they call every now and then their mama. Here on chess.com it's quite easy because due to so many cheaters and kids just looking for their next vulgar kick the recall ratio must be quite high.

An emotional strong person should be able to ignore bad language / attitude or to be able to hold up that with normal words. And if the opponent is still that annoying then disabling chat, blocking, contacting the support is soo easy. But its more easy to just call the mama instead of learning to handle such things in internet.

MSharingan

there should be. there should also be a button to give the opponent emoji

Respect?  You used bad language in a comment here and insulted someone. NOT called for. Lucky there's not a threes-strike-and-you're-out warning system or you'd have a strike for sure.

You don't get the point! Everyone can say that he / she was insulted by another person.

And very often here on chess.com this is used as a tool to kick other peoples butt. A society of defamation and denunciation. So the rule of no public naming and shaming, so often communiated by the mods is not without reason. So it is important to distinguish between insulting and people trying to defamate other people!

I think you have misunderstood what mods mean by naming and shaming.  If a member feels another member is harassing and their behaviour is insulting they have the right to report that and no member should discourage or bully a member in doing that.  If I take action I won't tell you or another member what I have done hence no naming and shaming.

Actually not at all and I was explaining it in two previous post here. Public naming and shaming is nothing else than defamation and denunciation, even without the context of chess.com and if used as a tool to kick other peoples butt then its a very poor attitude.

A quote of my posting: "And if the opponent is still that annoying then disabling chat, blocking, contacting the support is soo easy" I am the last one to say don't report but one has to be aware that the internet and especially here one is confronted with lots of problematic behaviour and most things one can ignore which is better instead of always shooting back when things are not in the own favor.
