boo
Resolve this, baby.

Good stuff.
My chessolutions are:
1. Have coaching once a week
2. Join a chess club
3. Study at least 50 tactics per day [on a competitive tactic training site I'm not allowed to mention].

Well, I live in a rural town with no club and a interschool champioships three times a year (I won the most recent edition, for u18s but i was 13 :) not much of an achievment, but pretty good) My plan is to increase my rating by 50 points each month, so it's 1900 by the end of the year (tough but I'm prepared) tactics will get me some of the way, while i will also spend a fair bit of time brushing up on openings and endgames to start my training. hopefully find some good books, and because I'm moving to the city, join a club and play regular OTB. Here's hoping!

Take vacation and go enter A big swiss system tournament.. It will give you A whole new outlook on chess. You might even win A few thousand dollars and A nice trophy because sections are devided up to make it more fair and give everyone A chance. Sandbagging rating points no longer works because of basement ratings and they are very good at catching people with fake hearing aids and cunputer pads in there shoes...

Twenty years ago, I realized that I am not able to rise to the world chess champion. At that point I stopped. And I do not to put yourself chess goals now. I just to playing and reading about chess because it is like a coffee or cigarettes for me now. Happy new year for all friends!
my resolution of 2015 will be:
1) quit chess as hard as it may be but it has ruined my studies for last 6-8 months and i have become an addict to chess since start playing it.
2) if don't get success in 1 then limit the chess for at most 1 hour a day.
3)I don't need anything more if I get success in 1 or 2 life will automatically get back on track.

#2 is quite reasonable and realistic.

Interesting, Can you guys add me as friends? I feel like i can relate to you guys somehow.
Hello for those of you that knew me months ago, Sorry if i offended anyone before lol.
My goals are
#1 concentrate on chess and not on computer games ( seriously, computer games are a big obstacle to me and other distractions)
#2 hope i get really good by 18
There are barely any tournaments here OTB due to the place i live in so i kinda have to wait till i get older for my OTB oppurtunities

my resolution of 2015 will be:
1) work out how those horsey things move
2) be nicer to people
3)I have a wash ....

Video games are DESIGNED TO BE ADDICTIVE.
just like cigarettes.

I am sort of out in the boonies too - not much in the way of OTB opportunities.
I came to chesss.com to renew my love for the game, which I had put away for 30+ years, and to see if I could make a few new friends.
I scored when I met up with kleelof!

Thats true but i still want to prioritize chess over video games soon ( somewhat soon)
Both don't get in the way of my studies so its not that bad.

I rediscovered chess because I couldn't get out and about as much as I'd have liked at the time, and so grateful I am for it too. But now, almost fully recovered, my main aim is to get outside more... not waste my time so much on the computer and being online during daytime hours. Night-time is different, I'm happy to sit up in bed and play chess or chat.
Come on peeps, stay healthy and get into the fresh air. Being cooped up hunched over a keyboard playing chess or any other online game isn't that healthy when done for hours on end. Limit the e-life and improve your health. Give yourself an outside goal... maybe a jog a week, or a walk around a park, join a gym, go ride a horse.
Just sayinnn...
Well, it's the end of the year and many are thinking about New Year's resolutions; lose weight, stop smoking, be a nicer person..blah...blah...blah...
I'm not one to make yearly resolutions. I figure, why wait till January 1st to start/stop something.
However, this year, I am going to make an exception.
The new year will wrap-up my first full year of working to create a solid chess game. And it's been a good one.
I've progressed, for the most part, past the point of being a woodpusher always hanging pieces and playing lots of hope chess (as defined by D. Heisman).
I'm quite happy with my progress. My skills and rating have continued to develop and progress over the last 6 months or so. And I feel confident I will be able to continue to improve in the months and years to come.
So, next year, I will make the following chess resolutions:
Anyway, those are my resolutions for 2015.
How about you? Any chess goals you would like to reach in 2015?
