Hi there, I appreciate this may be an old matter, but I can't find an existing thread.
I'd like to study more tactics, and to do so, I plan on solving both middlegame and endgame puzzles.
Some training materials I have, are telling to try and solve the puzzles on paper (screen) first, and then - if you can't solve them - try and solve them on a real chessboard.
Some other people claim to be the "old style" and solve puzzles on a real chessboard, saying it's better.
I really can't tell what would the recommended way to go, and the reasons behind. I'm seeking advise on what would be the way to get the best out these exercises.
Thanks.
