worked on some puzzles today at another site about an hour worth you seem to lose concertation after about 20 minutes - so maybe i will cut it off at 20 minutes or so

trying some new moves against bots to see i fair -- it seems easier when you lose against a bot so for now thats what i going to do

dokerbohm

i was very bored tonight so i tried a tourney - 13 losses in row very very depressing never do that again how do they expect you to compete when you are playing players 100's of ranking above you--- seems a bit unfair --- well lesson learned -- nothing to learn there -- but getting crushed in less than 10 moves so you can't even resign till move 11 -- yeps yeps

off for tonight now

dokerbohm

same as every other night of play -- tried some puzzles on another site then read about 3 min. gurus telling what to do -- so i tried what they said ---- nope doesn't work lost all the games using that method -- so i will try couple for tonight down to under 120 now so the bottom is fast approaching-- will try my old opening just for fun -- then thats it for tonight

dokerbohm

i just have to stop worry about losing a game --its tooooooo stressful--- when i first started to play heaven forbid that day --i just played to get to 30 moves thats how i pretended to get a win by getting to 30 moves -- it was much more fun then when i played --- i really got to get back to that playing structure just stop worrying about the ranking so i will keep at 100 from now on and just play to reach 30 moves ill add a cavet to that -- maybe 30 moves and my queen still intact -- that will be the goal at 3 min. games yep agreed here we go

Just try to win but don't worry so much about losing

Gurus is a bit disingenuous of your talking about YouTubers or high level players cause most of them actually coach people if you need it explained in simple terms so they actually know how to get (most) people improve

Eric Rosen, gothamchess ,Daniel narodisky ,and chessbrahs are all really good they explain chess really well

Like nothing will work if you make the same mistake over and over again so you have to figure out how to not do that

well iam trying different things and some work sometimes and then don't -- tried a couple of openings that gurus types said would work --- they didn't -- maybe against lowlife players like i play those things don't work -- who knows i surly don't --- i will try those you have suggested see if they are any better --- but now i just am trying to get to 30 moves with my queen intact -- for rst of weekend see what happens -- -- but i will look those guys up on utube or gotham chess never been to that site and see what will stick -- see you around dinner time after my med nap dow go the 13 pills and off to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well if you try different things and unfortenently blunder the same way your not fixing your mistakes since the mistake is not you trying no things but the actual blunder you made

Actually some type of increment time control might e more helpful for you but not sure since there is less pressure on the clock sad.png

well that last post was a little confusing to me -- but then iam a simple old sick man -- so i will try to read a few more times and see if what you say sinks in -- sunday morning going ok since i stopped caring about winning and just trying now to last in any game to over 30 moves with my queen in tact and 40 moves if i lose her

maybe i can push that to 35 moves and 45 moves by the afternoon will try anyways again thanks for the advice even if i don't quite what to make of it i know it was sent heartful intent.

hmm what i notice from a couple of your games is that you hang your pieces straight away, which gets you into sh!t positions where you end up losing in the end.

what i also notice is that you are too busy pushing like 3 or 4 pawns in the opening, and you do not look at the other opponents moves. this allows your opponent to take a free piece because you did not notice it.

what i would recommend is doing tactics, which can help you recognize hanging pieces from the opponent, and also start doing rapid games (where you can do 1-2 in the span of a couple blitz games). the rapid games have more time, which allows you to think about what moves you can play and it allows you to think about your opponent's moves. when your opponent moves, try to think of the reason behind it (trying to develop his pieces, attack one of your own pieces, trying to checkmate etc.)

sunday early afternoon before my --ha ha ha father's day visit med nap -- went pretty good only one game i lasted under 30 and that was 27 moves so i will continue to try different things to see which is working better for me -- still would like to get to 40 moves on a regular basis but i think that is to come see you tonight --- just a thought bigchessplayer maybe we could have a game say 10- 20 minutes and i will listen to you guide me through a opening thats works for- you against you just a thought i am putting out there ?

dokerbohm

well i will take a look at these stale mate wonders see if that helps

toight sunday night fathers day didn't really do so hot couple over 35 moves couple under 35 moves - so not a really good play for me -- but tomorow might bring a different day's play --

well that site was a waste of time it din't show me anything useful -- fun to watch -- a guy has 4 queens and he is playing a guy with one queen --- i guess i missed the point to watch much further

It wasn't it gave you those bigginer arenas (you can recreate them yourself if you have to ) though it is better to learn from tougher opponents than 100s

Are you sure it is the website or are you doing something wrong ? (Probably those meds and being old unfortunately that can play a role in chess I recommend doing the rapid arenas so you can think longer

BLUNDER CHECK or at least try to

Kratuu

Docker, I'm pretty old too and also have a slow brain which is why I wouldn't try to play blitz. I just can't think as fast as a 30 year old and I don't think you can either, which is why you make so many blunders. Really think you should take BigChess's advice and play longer time controls, and really take the time to consider your own and your opponent's moves.

I dunno a lot of 30 year olds think pretty fast but if you do struggle with that you should play longer time controls

paying longer games is just that losing takes longer i will lose no matter what but i will try a few 10 min. games to see if that helps -- playing very poorly tonight monday night anyways so all losses so under 150 again-- a few at 10 min games will mean-- tell the meds take hold-- less games tonight to lose i guess

To improve it isn't about winning or losing it is learning how to get food and pleasant positions in chess

Losing cam actually be very helpful in learning chess(needed to win in the first place ) you what not to do if you actually understand whats going on and it is easier to understand what's going on in longer time controls

Everyone loses so don't worry so much about it while playing longer time controls just enjoy the game

How much time did you use

Cause increment is probably better like 10|5 or 15|10 not super long games like daily but enough where Time pressure doesn't effect you alot
