I know VII is supposed to have a better story, but I never got around playing it.

I am mostly RTS (real time strategy) or FPS (first person shooter) player, I also play a lot of H&S (Hack and Slash)

I wish there would be more games like Morrowind, Oblivion and Dark Messiah. DM was pretty much the best game from that style.... and it's so fun when you try to beat a lich and it doesn't seem to want to die, but then falls down the stairs, hits his head and dies Laughing

By far the best? 7 and 8 were probably both worse than any of 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 in my opinion. Here's my take:

FF1 and 2 Japan (NES, GBA) are probably not worth playing unless you are seriously into it, as they are rather boring and very difficult. FF3, 4, and 5 Japan (SNES, GBA?) are often forgotten but I hear pretty good games (I haven't played them myself). FF6 Japan (3 US) is a classic, and you can get it now for the GBA (and I think the GBA version has the M Evade bug fixed, although I'm not sure). FF7 is OK, but it is very easy--I still liked it though, and played it all the way through. It's on PC and PS. FF8 is also OK, but the junction system really took some of the life out of the game, and the GFs were clearly too powerful. And personally I just got confused by the story. It is on PC and PS. FF9 is supposed to be great, one of the best in fact, but I haven't played it. It has spectacular graphics for the Playstation (I don't think a PC version was released). FFX is a very fun PS2 game with huge amounts of material and a good minigame but in my opinion a mediocre story. X2 is just not the way to go . . . I know some people like it . . . maybe if you play it on mute. I have never played XI and don't recommend it, since it is still very expensive (it requires a monthly fee). XII was probably good, but I gave up on it about half an hour in because I was so involved in other stuff. It's graphics are very impressive, though.

Other than that, I hear many people recommend FFT as one of the best tactics games around, so if you aren't interested in RPGs, that might still be one to try. I don't really know about any other FF games out there, although I'm sure they exist.

XII is great because of the enormous amount of content. Literally like 90 hours easy non stop of side stuff. XIII is still up in the air for me since I haven't beaten it yet. And IX maybe I should try again, but I sold it about halfway through since I wasn't liking it.

I don't like these new ones mainly because they don't have that bonus crap. I played IX for 80 hours without getting any additional bosses... and I played it 3 times 80 hours Laughing

Whata re you talking about 7 and 8 arnt nearly the best? I dont know what your on, considering those(along with 3) are the consensus best choices?

1 was good

2 Was fun but short

3 was long and amazing

5 was ok

6 was ok

7 was innovative, but somewhat easy

8 was long and time consuming, a grinders game

9 had decent graphics and was fun but no where near calibur of 7,10, or 3

10 was amazing and had funny story

13 was fun but extremely linear and hard to start but a great finish

I don't understand why they had to change the numbers... it's so confusing now

If I could find a great group I'd happily pen&paper some DnD, even at my advanced age.

I own the D&D books but have never actually played a game. I suspect this is pretty common.

You think?  I shelled out for the books only after being subsumed into a group of active players - ages ago, mind you.  It's a pretty significant investment - esp. if you buy 'em new.  (Especially since Wizards of the Coast took over.)

I own Diplomacy but have never actually completed a game. I suspect this is also pretty common.

chess is the greatest game ever, followed by D&D 3rd ed, Spades, World of Warcraft then Final Fantasy X... definitive list no questions...

Kupov3

I disagree with WOW being on any list of greatest games. It's a kiddie MMO (and I wasted waaay too much time with that game :P).

Murrrrr

Phoenix Wright... not really a RPG but just throwing it out there.

:O

You put spades above hearts and bridge? You put WoW above . . . anything?

No sir, the greatest multiplayer game of all time is unquestionably WWF Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain. That is a mathematical fact. I'm still thinking about single player games.

Kupov3

I just re installed Warcraft three. I'm playing ladder games and I suck, but it's so much fun.

jpd303

ive been on WOW since 12-09 and im still working on my first character. i love it. i think the replay value is high and the waste of time value is very high. i can burn hours playing that damn game...now it wont stay with me as long a chess or spades but as far as video games go this WOW is way up on top of my list of favorites.
