How do I report someone who is being inappropriate?

HorsesGalore

you should email  support@chess.com

They are very good and generally get back to you within a day.

am sorry someone acted badly with you.    You should not let that affect your overall chess.com experience.   In meantime, when someone is acting weird, you should "disable chat" with that person.

Help and support will help you, just block the person

You can report a user here: https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new

Like others have said, I suggest you disable chat when this happens and after the game is complete, blocking the person here: https://www.chess.com/settings/blocking

When you're a kid, you dream about having super-powers. Stronger than Hulk, able to fly, able to see through walls, faster than Usain Bolt with his ass on fire chased by three lions... all I want is to be able to materialize in the room where my insulting opponent is. Then I can have some fun too.

Since my 'rant' on here I have had much less harrassing comments. But still for some stupid reason some men think that 'money' is a woman's reason to marry someone sight unseen. I must say that I have never been money focused, and I am content to live a simple life. Nor would I ever even consider marriage with a stranger, especially based on financial gain. I am far too much of a romantic for that nonsense.

How about this message I just got:

"hi pretty and sexy danielle, I am william, how are you??"
"you like doing sexy chat?"
"please answer??"

my reply: "are all Dutch guys this desperate and creepy?"

his response: "no... and I am not that too... just asked you a direct question so answer it directly."
SilentKnighte5

It's rude to not answer a question.

People should focus only on chess here...go to match.com if you want anything else...

Not when you get an unsolicited message like that from someone you don't wish to interact with.  The classy thing to do is just ignore it.  What's rude is that idiot following-up her non-responses with additional similar messages.  It absolutely is desparate and creepy.  Especially considering this is not a dating site.

I guess some of us were raised with good manners and answer questions when asked. Cool

"Men" sending such drivel should be immediately booted from chess.com. The admins need to be unafraid to make this site safe for all.

It's just... there's something about that response that rubs the wrong way.  It's a typical comeback of a guy that harasses women out in public and refuses to take a hint.

"Hey beautiful how's it going?"

"..."

"What you can't talk?"

"..."

"Hello, it's called manners, weren't you raised right!?"

I think some men are just idiots. I find the ones who ask the 'sex' questions or the 'gross' questions and also send a challenge have a rating of 600 or so. It is as if they are not here to play chess at all. And yes I guess this is true. I don't answer those questions any more. And I wont accept challenges from people with such low ratings. I won't help me improve my game play. And no not even for eleventy million dollars lol.

bunicula

Thx for sharing. Just wondering - So these men have a low rating because they don't care about chess or because they're idiots? And what is eleventy?

I get why you stopped, but if the questions are gross, why'd you ever answer them before?

etc2000chess

I think this question has been asked at least 9,999,999,999 times...
