I was just wondering why chess.com day by day becomes more and more beautiful place and the members  becomes more rude..

I was a member on chess.com since 2009 and the members were super cool even super cool isn't enough to describe them, suddenly after 3-4 years everything changed

rude members everywhere prevent less of them specially in live chess, Just when they lose starts swearing on you of course after some swears you can't accept any rematch so they start chatting you rudely and messages bla bla bla..

I used to say in the beginning ( Hello and good luck ) at the end like ( good game, thanks for the game, or send him a friend request ) this is wonderful acts for chess player, I believe that chess player should be polite and good sportsmanship..

Keep chess.com wonderful place for all

important note : if you are rude and you hate losing, all what you have to do is to stop chess and keep yourself calmCool

I think this is what happens when you are the biggest site and you let anyone have a free account. You could describe yahoo chess the same way.

I agree with everything you said. :)

You mean opening an account should be for Money ?

I think there should be system on chess.com that rewards good behavior. Otherwise the ill-mannered gets too much attention, and others follow suite.

Take for instance how many times I have heard this  Daeth guy getting praised, his name being taken in awe; the same worshipful levity is given to another member called, I think, the cheater...and now there are other members who post rubbish on the forums, and are lavished with praise.

There should be a forum section that only lets you in, when you have made "twenty good posts".

It would be hard to figure out what is good. But I think we would know when we saw it. Basically a positive contribution.

There is absolutely no incentive for self regulation. And this gives people the impression that there are no restriction in behaviour.

See in family we have a saying.

If some body does something to bother you and it works why would they stop. When you stop letting it bother you that is when it stops.

See their rude behavior most likely comes from somebody treating them like crap in their life. People treat people how they been treated at times. If you act out the same way it just makes it worse for you and the rest of us. They go into a rage and want to spread it around as fast they can here.

Yes chess.com was a cool place. I say it started when chess.com introduced live chess. Sorry that is when it hit the fan. It started when people started spreading fear about how strong your opponent was really in a game. Too many people feed into it. When they lost a game they start to say nasty things and spread the word around about the person. That is why chess.com suggest if you suspect anybody report them and your not allowed to mention their name or any reference towards that individual.

Yes there is more to why they are rude here. But that would require going back into the history of chess.com the last 2 years. Just to make it short we lost several players that had good to great organizational skills in Team Matches, Vote Chess, Public forums and etc. Plus they were respected by many members. When you lose to many leaders (by their good or bad actions) and they are not replaced it head towards the direction of chaos.

Hey ...... again the person may be having a bad day. Later on they may turn out to be your best friend here. If not move on an make new friends. As we have more than enough people that like see chess.com and fun and friendly place to play chess and met up with friends and family. A vast nest of the history of chess is here so if you wish just read some threads and learn more about chess until you find others like yourself here. A great place to experience other things other than chess.

Good Luck and have a good game.

I'm noticing the staff members are more corrupt. Whenever you try to report someone on the forums, they just tell you to block them instead of doing anything about it.

To littledragon; You hit the nail right on the head about Daeth, and cheater, and a couple of others. Its just disgusting. I've submitted tickets on full threads about cheating. I understand normal trooling, but rude behavior, multiple account names. I like your idea about,"10-15 good post of positive contributions. Maybe 2 forums; one for paying members, and another one. Even if you don't post. Just look at the patterns. Read those forums. Its all-ways the same people.

Comparing to Yahoo Chess, this is still a very nice place.  Tongue Out

Well Daeth had some good points. He was the only person that came up with an opening and put some serious work into it. Bad part he did not use it first. Not sure about the discovery part (Cannot discover America if some body else is already living there mister Columbus) But it seems if you make your claim to discover it first it is your discovery. Does not make it right but.....

Now i will keep his opening as a weapon to pull out and only at the right time. Even he had to admit the purpose for it was a surprise. Take that away and it is risky. Try it on your friends that do not know too much opening theory and have fun. It had anothe purpose also which was never mentioned in his thread or any place else. It would be a good tool to train a new player how to exploit a weakness in a postion. The teacher can use it on the student to how they take to find the weakness then they must successful use it to their advantage. The key is they have understand the situation and follow up with win in position.

Yeah at Yahoo you get death threats & they want to blow up your house.

So much safer for me and my family here. :)

Yes, I like you BM;  When Wayback Machine showed up, nemeeno was being impersonated by nemeno1had. It caused problems for that poor person. On the www, they tell you to be careful with confidential info; well in these forums, check the profile page of who your talking to. If the're sign up date was yesterday, the'll have a new name tomorrow. I don't know why chess.com can't confirm the IP addresses

Two problems.  First, there can be more than one legitmate chess.com account coming in from a particular IP.  Second, there are still a lot of Internet accounts with dynamic IP addresses.

"I'm noticing the staff members are more corrupt"

Yeah I had a game against one and ended up resigning and then asking for a rematch to which he said no. When I asked him why he said that he felt I resigned too early (not true at all, I was a piece down and also in zugzwang) and he had the audacity to say "I'm sure you can find someone else to play against" and then he left.

Bad manners and rudeness is quite bizarre to me, it serves no purpose and it makes people feel like shit. I'm nice to every person I play against and I always wait after the game is over to accept their rematch if they want one. That's all I can do I guess.

Avatar of kco

What's wrong with that, him saying no to a rematch ? He doesn't have to.

Avatar of dysko

Right but it's the reasoning. I had an objectively bad position and we were about 29 moves in, he was being flakey and then saying to go find someone else to play, is just being a twit and pretending like I don't exist. I'd expect some dignified behavior from a mod, now I know that no one can be trusted.
