Has anyone ever experienced schadenfreude when they lose a tournament or game, both online and OTB? Please share your experiences.

According to meriam websters, schadenfreude is a feeling of enjoyment that comes from seeing or hearing about the troubles of other people.

In the case of chess, those who lose. I am wondering what your experiences are in regards to this.

Based on the definition it seems you can only experience schadenfreude when you win a game.

Yes, but others can experience if you lose. What is yoru experiences for both?

I've read that this German word does not translate perfectly to English.  I've heard it explained (roughly) as a kind of smirking satisfaction at the discomfiture of another human being.

If that's so, it sounds to me like Fischer indulged in schadenfreude when he "crushed" his opponents egos.
