Arrogance is arrogance, regardless of whether or not you degrade them to their faces.

You may say you don't think you're anything special, yet you continually refer to your peers as morons and oafs. Why is that necessary? You don't need to like your peers, you don't need to agree with their interests or hobbies, but you DO have to respect them. There are countless examples in this thread where you are not respecting them.

My "aragance" does not affect them. I will NOT respect anyone who doesnt know that stars are real. and i never said ALL of them are oafs i was just talking about the majority there are afew examples of people in my school who can be easily fixed. the problem is with people like the person i mentioned

Look, the point I'm trying to make here is that instead of focusing on the negative traits of a handful of people, it's much better to do your own thing and focus on what really matters. These people you dislike will eventually fade away as distant memories, however the time you spend improving yourself and making progress will stay with you and pay dividends.

I used to think I was hot shit back in the day, but after meeting and reading about a ton of new people, I realized I'm just a drop of water in a boundless ocean. There are some truly astounding individuals out there, since there are over 7 billion living souls. The rule of thumb is that you should always try to end up in a room in which you are the dumbest person. Surround yourself with people who are better than you and they will drive you upwards.

What you should NOT do is pat yourself on the back because some folks around you demonstrate their ignorance. ALWAYS seek new challenges. ALWAYS question your own abilities and pinpoint the manner in which they might be improved. Time spent complaining or ruminating is time wasted. Just my two cents! :)

Yet here you are, focusing on what you see as being the negative sides of everyone here. These people you dislike will eventually fade away as distant memories, however the time you spend improving yourself and making progress will stay with you and pay dividends. Really? Everything sifts through my mind like wheat through a sieve.

I used to think I was hot shit back in the day, but after meeting and reading about a ton of new people, I realized I'm just a drop of water in a boundless ocean. Everyone's unique. Some people are smarter than others... There are some truly astounding individuals out there, since there are over 7 billion living souls. Yes... True... I'm trying to see what you're saying... The rule of thumb is that you should always try to end up in a room in which you are the dumbest person. Surround yourself with people who are better than you and they will drive you upwards. That is very hard in school...

What you should NOT do is pat yourself on the back because some folks around you demonstrate their ignorance. He's not patting himself on the back... ALWAYS seek new challenges. That's what he's doing with chess...  ALWAYS question your own abilities and pinpoint the manner in which they might be improved. You are not doing this with this post...Time spent complaining or ruminating is time wasted. It actually helps you think more clearly... Just my two cents! :)

Here are other facts you may want to consider, Thomas.  Elementary school, high school and college are there very different environements.  For example, in elementary schools there are recesses where a lot of nonsense and bullying happens.  In high school - no recess...  In elementary school every student stays with is class all day - in high school, you change classes, therefore you are with different students, etc.  In college, you are independent and usually focused on what carreer you wish to pursue.  If your school does not meet your intellectual needs, find extracuricular activities that will.  Socialize with positive, interseting people and try and avoid the people that annoy you.  Be patient, tolerant and understanding about others.  There are 8 types of intelligence (read Howard Gardiner), therefore, you may excell in certain types of intelligences and less in others (just like everyone else).  Learning is not only about academics, learning is far more encompassing than that!  Human development includes many dimensions: psychological, social, intellectual, artistic, spiritual, moral...  Make good, sincere friends, treat them well and hang on to them!  Also, find adults that you click with and talk to them about how you feel.  Keep up the chess - yes, your rating will improve with time, growth, practice, reading and perseverance.  I hope this will be helpful...

If your so confident in your ablitly to make websites, you should be doing that and making money on your free time instead of wasting it worrying about your chess rating.

School is a waste of time that teaches you nothing you'll remember past grade 6. School is about conditioning you to be an obedient worker and not challenge authority even when authority is feeding you a crock of shit. College is no better, depending on where you end up. I was in the gifted program in elementary school and was a C student by high school. I decided to use my time doing things other than pointless memorization of topics I didn't care about, and still don't. And I have no regrets about it. I have a shitty job now, trying to eventually make it as a musician. If you realize you have a talent that school is not reinforcing - in your case website design - DO IT and get good at it now while you're still in school and not worried about money. Even if you're not making money, do it and build a portfolio/reputation. This is your key to long-term success. Your school advisor likely doesnt know jack shit about you and probably wants to force you into some cardboard cutout office job like all your peers. If you don't want to be someone else's slave, YOU need to figure things out on your own because the school wants you to be a slave to the corporate elite.

First person on this fourm that truley understand so gratz on that :P

The point of class is to attend; in other words do not miss class.
