Must have been some pretty weak masters. Or both were in a coma
probably a fake game and there are shorter. Chessnetwork(Jerry) got mated in 4 moves. Look it up on youtube.

"Here's Larry Evans' explanation. He should know, since he was there:
"Essentially, it was a protest by Panno. Games normally started at 4:00 PM, but Fischer and Reshevsky had a special dispensation to begin games played on Saturday at 7:00 for religious reasons.
"Panno did not feel this was fair; especially in the final round, with qualifying spots for the Candidates matches still up for grabs, he felt all games should start at the same time.
Hence he didn't show up at the board. Fischer plays 1.c4 and actually went to find him, not wanting to win on forfeit. Panno eventually came to the board, but only to officially resign."
I wouldn't count that Jamie.

Well, it was not a time forfeit. And it was a rated game. Panno resigned the game at the board after seeing Fischer's first move.
Just a bit of chess history.

The game in the original post is commonly credited as Gibaud vs Lazard. It probably didn't happen. See the comments at chessgames.com for details.
