NO.

Chess is difficult game played by some exceptionally bright people (although as this thread shows, some of them could use help with proper social skills).

Accept that losing is part of learning and just keep playing.  Your ELO and W/L record are just data points, and do not reflect on who you are as an individual, your intelligence or personality or anything else.  Put another way, nothing worthwhile in life comes easily, the best things require effort on our part.  So, be of good cheer, and just keep playing. 🙂

a-I see your rating

b-You say check your games

c- I choose to see only the date you played

d-I see you played a full day of bullet chess and blitz, plus 6 consecutive days playing blitz

Your problem is not that you are bad or that you are not made for chess, your problem is that you hope to improve only by playing blitz without studying the game. If you want to have fun playing chess just to play and waste time playing blitz chess, that's fine, but if you really want to see improvements in your game, don't play blitz games and rather go play classic games, play games with a minimum time control of one hour ( if it is with 10 seconds increment, even better). Study chess, study the basics, watch sample games to learn the basics.

When you have played at least 50 classic games you can try to play rapid games of 30 minutes; Then, as you adapt, if you want more fun and take it less seriously, you can play faster rhythms, but I recommend you avoid bullet chess (realize that it doesn't exist), if you really want to keep improving, play blitz only one day a week . Don't play blitz before completing at least one year of playing classic and rapid games. If you want to play faster time controls go little by little (30 minutes, 20 minutes, 15 minutes etc) but if you want to keep constantly improving never stop playing classic games or if you are not playing classic games keep studying and practicing playing games minimum controls of time from 10 to 5 minutes depending on your level of play (if you are not able to exceed 1800 elo in rapid do not play blitz).

If you are not willing to wait 2 or 3 years to see very significant improvements, then I think it is better that you give up chess. If you want to see significant improvements in the long run but you want to spend your time playing blitz or even worse bullet chess, you better give up on chess. If you are willing to have fun without improvements or not, you can continue playing without problem, in that case there would be no conditions and you can play the time mode you want since the goal would not be to improve.

If you are willing to improve and avoid playing too much blitz, don't play blitz until you can reach 1800 d or 1900 elo in rapids (2000 elo maybe), never (or almost never) play bullet chess, study endings, openings, tactics, strategies etc etc; then it's definitely okay for you to continue playing chess.
If you feel that a lot of time is passing and you don't notice any improvements, you can decide to just have fun or definitely stop playing.

I looked at a few of your games and they look ok. Of course there is room for improvement.

If you plan to make a living out of chess I would advise you to stop and make a new plan. But if you love the game, he?, enjoy and improve!

Wow, I am under 1800 rapid and I play blitz and bullet haha. And I think I have been improving over the time I have been playing chess (somewhat over one year now).

That said, I completely agree. I feel this question is WAY too premature if right now you are playing primarily blitz and bullet. I agree that these fast time controls should be saved until much later. Plus, on your profile you declare that you like chess (with a heart!) So if I were you I definitely wouldn't jump to this so soon, just play longer time controls and study some principles and then see what you think.

BoardMonkey

I would keep going if I were you. Give yourself more time in your games to think.

trimalo

keep playing until you don´t ask yourself or ourselves this question; then you will know for sure.wink

Chess is weird.

In no other field would people expect to become good at something after just one week.

That doesn't mean OP can't play around with shorter time controls, especially playing vs the computer.  The computer doesn't care how long you spend per move.

One thing I like is "Puzzle Battle", which forces me to think under the pressure of time.
