"I am taking coaching classes" ++ Not useful

"i have solved 3000 plus puzzles" ++ Puzzles are not real chess.

"i have watched thousands of you tube videos" ++ Not useful

"but nothing is happening" ++ Do you analyse your lost games?

"should i quit chess?" ++ If chess is fun to you, then do not quit, else quit.

Why some people don't improve

VelouriousFog

You can't improve forever and some people will simply have less ability than others. It is possible that you have simply reached your peak. Malcolm Gladwell's 10,000 hours hypothesis has largely been debunked.

But if you enjoy it carry on playing! At least you can stop spending money on coaching wink.png

And I haven't improved at football/soccer since I was about 16 (20 years ago), but I still play it and enjoy.

Do you love the game? Are you enjoying it? Is it any fun? Or have you succeded in making it a chore that only brings you frustration?

I only play on rapid it's 598

I had a quick look at your puzzles archive, you’re getting loads of them wrong after thinking for two seconds, or five seconds or ten. That’s not solving. Obviously if you’re 600 rated you can improve a lot but you can’t expect it to happen just from YouTube videos and mindless churning through positions with zero effort.

Also if you want to quit, do it because you want to, it doesn’t matter what anyone on here thinks.

At this level you should focus on not hanging your pieces. Before playing any move you should check that all your pieces are protected and/or not attacked.

You should also play the openings correctly and avoid exposing your kingside.
Maybe I can give better feedback if you share a game you lost here, and which you thought you played well.

Ok

Are you having fun playing chess? Because that is what matters.

No i am a lot i don't know why

If you enjoy it then don't leave, instead try to find your weak points and improve it.

To learn takes time. To learn chess takes time. Try playing chess without time control (the way most of us old guys used to play) or traditional time control so that you have time to think and analyze while playing. Bullet, blitz and rapid are fine but no way to learn the game.

Well, if you really love it I say stick it out, but if you aren’t enjoying it maybe find something else

I dont improve either but i play for fun. its like a daily routine for me. Your rating may seem too low for many but everyone has his own limits.. mine is 1400.. a 2000 may laugh at me while a 2600 laughs at him..

well, rating doesnt matter. try to learn new things and enjoy the journey.. dont be a goal oriented person at games. this kills all the fun

ryanovster

yes puzzles are im portant but someone at your level usually has this problem, you do not take your time to analyze the entire board, look for captures, defense and checks, it doesnt matter if you r un out of time in games but your brain will start picking up patterns faster as you play more and more, but puzzles are more for experienced players who want ot sharpen what they know, at your level you need to work on your time management and overall sight of the board....puzzles come a bit later because in puzzles at your level those situations wont come up too often, and dont give up or even ever resign anyone under 2000 can make huge blunders to turn games around.....focus on what your opponent wants, guard it and counter attack, if you can do all that at once its cool, but to attack you must first learn defense, such as everything else in life happy.png
