Should you go Pawn-picking in the endgame or go straight away for checkmate?

I would say we should all go for checkmate. But in the endgame, someone usually has a pawn that is almost promoted.

If the person who is about to promote is your opponent, I'd usually go pick them off, as those pawns would be a potential threat.

Otherwise, if there is no need, I usually would say to not do so.

What do you think?

I always pawn-pick to make checkmating easier.

Checkmate if you're sure you can get it without offering too much counterplay. Some of it comes down to the time left on the clock and the likelihood of missing the mate and the opponent being able to either win on time or promoting and losing any advantage you have.
