Shouldn't "aborted" games count?

I've seen this happen several times, including back-to-back right before I posted this. If you're playing as white and black abandons a game, shouldn't you get a win? That's basically like resigning, isn't it?

Same for black. If you're playing as black, and you abandon a game, shouldn't you get a loss there?

Ok, can you explain your position on that, please?

Games not played, in most cases, should not provide rating gains. Rating is a measure of past performance in a pool and if a game wasn't played, there's no performance.

For player's that habitually do it and get in the poor sportsmanship pool, they'll begin having their games rated in such instances, but that shouldn't be the default stance.

Sure. I get that point, but if I'm playing as white, and I make a move, and then black immediately abandons the game, how is that different than resigning? I understand that generally on this site (or at least it used to be this way) you have to make 10 moves before you can resign, but to me abandoning a game after a move has been made should count as a win for the opposite player. Also, the reason I say this is if you're 25 or 30 moves in and your opponent abandons the game, it counts as a win (I've seen this happen). Of course, I could be mistaken.

So why not after 1 move?

I as well think there is no difference. If you quit playing then it is a loss or should be.

Arena require at least 10 move to be made before resigning as a way to try and limit gaming the arena system to get easier pairings. It really isn't any different than OTB officially rated games; those aren't rated if at least one move isn't made by each player.

The reason is because u aren’t playing in a tournament if u are then u get the point but otherwise u don’t . This is why u get an extra trophy for winning tournament games
