'Why can't I check your king?'
'Because YOUR in check!'
'So?'
If kings cant kill each other, why cant they be on squares right next to each other. Aftyer all if a king can't kill a king then it shouldn matter that they are next ot each other. Right?
the above is true I ws asked that today by a high school student.
I was wondering the same thing.
Maybe he said "My Lord" to the wrong person?
LOLLLLLL I've got a big grin on my face from reading that

Totally valid question tho! hahaha. Would love to hear anecdotal explanations on why kings can't be "near" each other. Technically it's because it wouldn't be logical. A king can't move into check and therefore the kings can't check each other.

I think the last time I logged on was 3 weeks ago, judging by my last post on this forum here. I lost on time in all games I had in progress!!! Hope my opponent(s) took no offense.
Anyway, I've called many people that both in real life and on the internet, and I guess it's obvious if you took notice, Jerome! I like it because it sounds cool. To me it's a "term of endearment for men" because it's way too creepy to call a dude "Lady," "Dear," or "Honey." I didn't think anyone would have paid attention. I've only had one person at work tell me "I'm not your lord." It's sort of like a habit of mine I suppose...that and "for the love of the King's Gambit."
I personally really like it! :-) It's definitely more poetic and beautiful than dude. And you should be able to address him however you'd like. ^^
bring out the propaganda and condoms! :D
Oh my, welcome to the no-invite party list... lol...

So, does this mean I have to address guys as "My lord" too?

No no no, but you can call me "My Sweet Lord", lol, just kidding.
I have been called "Master," "Sir," and "Sire," followed by my last name. Being from the south, I've also been called "Sweetie" and "Honey." Now, coming from women who have that beautiful southern dialect (not the back-woods red-neck type), it is quite charming. But I have never been called "My Lord." (I like the sound of it, though.)

Me three /: Perhaps busy traveling or something? Hope he's doing well.
