And speak olde English while you're at it.

And, camber, I wasn't offended.

I'm taking a Medieval and Renaissance class now so I've read a lot of Old English in the past two weeks! Enough for my fair share... How funny you should mention it. Lol

I guess you'll learn about the oldest trick in the book (Geiko commercial)

"Trick number one. Lookest thou there!"

"Ha.... Madest thou look."

"What is this black magic, you cheat, this isn't chess..."

I actually get annoyed when that happens. It's kinda a rude thing to suggest that one's blatantly cheating. Why would anyone cheat in chess. And if we know how to play chess, all the more reason to know the rules and not cheat. If you're a respectable player anyway.

Did anyone read the article Silman posted on this site the other day? I skimmed it, but it essentially said that Magnus Carlsen is one of three people in the world who can hypnotize his opponent during a chess game and cause them to blunder. There were chess diagrams of Carlsen games with proof. I am not kidding.

Hypnosis hmmm? Is he reading fortunes too with a crystal ball?

Wait, is that what's going on in his picture?!

Haha. I found the article. Correction -- It was not Silman who authored it apparently.

^(Long quotes. No regrets!!)

So I went to that thread and there's a Chess.com Youtube video on Carlsen, which made me remember how unimpressed I am with Chess.com's Youtube vids. I hope I'm allowed to express my opinion here on that?! First, let me ask, how do you feel about their Youtube vids on chess?

akafett

I always go to chessopenings.com, click on an opening, view the video and then sift through the "relevent videos" that are advertised at the end. I have found some good ones that way.

A olarge amount of co-workers do.

The world is full of said idiots. Que triste...

Ha. Ha. Ha. I think I jinxed myself with that post I made prior to this one. One of my co-workers had a really bad case of stupidity today, and the supervisor and manager who got involved had a mild case of no-knowledge-of-what-is-really-happening.

But get this! Since the manager just got back this week from a knee surgery 2 month leave of absence, I was actually kind enough to fill him in!!* (*15 minutes later...and it was soon after my dissertation that he finally realized that this was a problem going on much longer than he had hoped...and he no longer wanted to be involved.)

You can always edit them so they are not long. Just like how I edited yours. You can also combine your posts so you don't have to double and triple post, which you are good at, Allie.

Hahaha thank you ^_^ I do enough editing as a news editor so it's a free for all in this thread >:]

I once ordered a Mensa-endorsed (cough, cough, publicity scam, cough) tactics puzzle book online. The book was $9.99 USD, with shipping of $12.49 USD. Ay, caramba.

akafett

Does that guy's Homer avatar have anything to do with his statement?

camberfoil

Your comment on that makes me laugh everytime... lol... I have a close friend who's interested in the croissant/donut aka cronut combination. So, each time you type croissant I think of, well, that plus chess. (A combination on a combination, I guess?)

I've seen people playing with the board the wrong way round and when you tell them, they say it doesn't matter.
