Anand could have taken one of Carlsen's pawns off the board, slipped it into his jacket pocket, and he never would've noticed. Or if he did, then say . . . 'Aaaah, just kidding, Magnus--it's your move!'
Stuff Non-Chess Players Say

LMAO XD

I am actually guilty of something similar. I was playing a friend once and he got up to get something to drink. And I moved one of his Knights over one square. He came back and had this confused look on his face, for his Knight had no good squares to go to. Trying to keep a straight face was tough. He got up to refill his glass (still his move), so I stacked my Rook behind my Queen which was already on the same file as his King. When he got back he said, "I know I didn't move my Knight there, I'm not stupid!" and puts it back not noticing the Rook I had moved.
One move later, I started laughing as I announced checkmate. Now realizing I could not have had a Rook where it was, he said, "I hope you're amused. And I demand rematch."

Anand should have let the kid sleep. I can picture him saying ¨let the kid sleep; the youth need sleep¨. LOLZ!
To be fair, Carlsen DID say that he was feeling very sick that day! (PS The game was still a draw!)
"The 8th game was a difficult one. When I woke up that day, I felt kind of sick, nauseated. It was not a good situation to be in. So at the start of the game, I felt pretty horrible, that's why it appeared to some that I was sleeping at the board. Then at some point my medicine started to kick in a bit and I felt much better." – Magnus Carlsen

The "Are you not entertained?!" meme comes to mind when I read this, lol! (I think December_Twentynine would've been proud of me... when he was on this thread, I remember that he really liked sharing memes!)
Bravo to everyone! I haven't read the whole thread but I have loved the five pages that i have read :-)

Awwwwwwee! That is so sweet of you to mention!
There was just one person who was unhappy with the thread. And I was unhappy that it made them unhappy -- definitely not intended! They felt that we were putting our superiority over non-chess players and we should understand that we all learn at some point. Well everyone knows we all had to learn chess at some point. Here we're just pointing out our own observations on our chess journeys, and many observations happen to align, and so create interesting discussion. Of course, in addition to other "Fun With Chess" conversation (I forgot what the thread was originally categorized under, lol).

I just had the second worst afternoon of chess in my life. Lost every game. Lost to a 1900. Lost to a 900. It has to be that 2.5 hours of sleep I got last night. At least I hope that's it.

As Bobby Fischer once said, "That's what chess is all about. One day you give your opponent a lesson, the next day he gives you one."

My lesson learned: Get some sleep the night before.
I finally broke 1200 on this website's tactics trainer. Now, if I can only play like a 1200.

Camber can help ya out with that! hehehe

Ok so I was playing bug house 10 minute for each player and it was so intense. All 4 of us players made moves using less than a second. Soon I sacked so many pieces and my partner sacked a ton of pieces. All four of us had barely any pieces on the board and we all start dropping **** on the board. It was insane.
I believed I had:
-6 queen trades
-2 free queen takes
-about a dozen forks
-oh and by the way, I had all four knights in my possession at one point.
Our game soon got attention of others in the cafeteria and they all gathered around to watch. It ended up with my partner winning on time by 2 seconds
