Stuff Non-Chess Players Say

I was reading a Nintendo publication (from like 10 years ago and it was in my bookshelf stuff) and it claimed that Ninetails (in my avatar) could be found and caught in the wild. That's false! Vulpix can only evolve into Nintetails when given a Fire Stone by its trainer. It's not a wild Pokémon.

OMG. I corrected Nintendo's own Pokémon magazine issue....... lol... super nerd!

So anyway, how's everyone's summer coming along? After the Vegas chess festival in 2 and a half weeks, I'll be on the East Coast for the rest of the summer.

I just won a game against a near 1700 player! He won round 1, though.

Even if it's not all about the points, you'd be up in experience points cause of the rating difference, so I think you're doing fine! I beat a 1600 player and a 1800 player on chess.com (on separate occasions) but only cause they blundered a major piece. But yeah. Bragging rights anyway!

He blundered one rook and gave me a knight. The funny thing is, I made the dumbest move I have EVER made in the opening and lost major time to develope. Now that I mentioned my dumb move, I have to diagram it; I'll do that next post.

At the beginning of the game, my rating was in the mid 1200's. My opponent's rating was close to 1700.

OK, here it is:

My strategy may not be very sound, and I'm sure I beat this guy mostly due to his blunders. But a win is a win.

^Except for maybe the bishop attack in the beginning, I don't see any strong attacks (or any at all) on black's king in that game. White's rook (the one he didn't sack...) seems indecisive on where it wants to be, moving too often, in my opinion.

PS Ever since Spider-Man, I've always thought Tobey Maguire was soooo cuteeeee!!!! >___<''!

Which piece gets to ride the horse??

colinsaul

Pawn sacrifice. The hawks wanted it to be Bobby against the USSR. But I think Bobby was more interested in chess than the Cold War. I remember 1972.

dragonair234

Surprised

egoole

What is this one called?

That's a pawn

What about this one?

Still a pawn.

Thougth you said all the piece have different names? :'(

I hope it's a good movie with good chess and not some Hollywood-ized rubbish.

Yup there's always gonna be smh cinematic movie moments... but all in all, I hope it'll be an entertaining and meaningful movie! ^__^

GUYS! I hope to upload a few pics on here from the chess festival, as it happen if there's good Wi-Fi, or after. I can't promise they'll be terribly exciting cause I've never been, but we shall see. heh Cool

If it's anything like Comic-Con, you might see some fanboys dressed in costumes. And walking the same way the pieces would move on the chessboard. Of coarse, the ones dressed up like pawns would be late for everything.... Nor could they turn a corner.... or go out the way they came.
