Sick and Tired of abuse
Welcome to online chess.
If you want to see someone for who they really are, watch how they act online.
That's the personality of some chess players: self-absorbed, determined to put others down. Just destroy them on the board with no mercy and they'll have nothing to say
I have to say I find most players just play and go win or loose. A few say GG..,or the like and a few chat a bit..other than those who won't resign or just abandon the board. Most player are ok... I have never suffered from the kind of stuff you get..Simple solution.Remember they are the sick ones.,.Treat them as such..😊
For me, if a player chooses to time out I have no thoughts whatsoever, means I can just leave that game to one side and it's no skin off my nose. I've not come across any real trash talk or serious insults and I've played thousands of games now.

That might be a trap. What if they don't move for 2 minutes to trick you into leaving, but then move, and you already left cause u think abandoned the game, and then YOU lose on time. Unless it's a pre-move
(hmm....maybe I should reenable chat to see what I’ve been missing)

I use the Focus Mode in V3. I dont see my opponents name/ rating/ or chat. Its nice and peaceful.

Why not just disable game chat (or limit it to friends) if it causes you such grief? Instead of letting it ruin your day, change your live chess settings. As for opponents who stop moving when in lost positions, block them.
I really dearly hate that some people are enabling of the sort of vulgarity chess has. I always respected chess for being a "Gentleman's game" and full of manners for most grandmasters, but I've had experience with the same stuff and it's only ever been on this site, and I hate it too. I personally know no solution and even people like IM Greg Shahade and IM John Bartholomew have trash talkers on their streams, and I never understand the point.
It's not the game, the players are the problem. No matter what the game is, people will always find a way to cause problems.
I have a PhD in psychology, if you want someone to stop fighting you then you should say things like, "I spent the night with your mother" my brother used to say that to me all the time. It got me so angry that I didn't even know what to say.

BTW, you don't have a PHD in psychology, u have a PHD in "everything". What subject is called everything? Could you clarify what the field of "everything" is? Thanks
I have a PhD in statistics (concentration: probability theory) and I can tell you that "I am sick", is the most common phrase spoken by individuals prior to death. The second most spoken phrase is very debatable. Do a Google Scholar database search, it's quite surprising to see nobody contests the #1 spot but the second and third most common phrase spoken before death is contested in just about every published journal article.
