I think the best way to learn is to use all tools available. There is so much chess content out there, that it would be a waste to stick just to one!

I personally use:

Chess.com

My main hub for playing chess, as well as going through tactics, lessons, drills and other stuff. I think chess.com has the best forums, news, articles and is in general the best "complete" chess site out there.

Lichess.org

My secondary hub for chess playing. I think Lichess has a bit smoother board for playing, and I think the level of players is a bit higher. Lichess has by far the best tournaments system and there is always something interesting to play. I don't like Lichess website (the layout etc.) as much as chess.com, and I prefer the lessons, drills and tactics trainer here on chess.com. But I know this is a matter of personal taste. I also use Lichess for making my own studies (like annotated GM games).

Chesstempo.com

Best site for training tactics, drills, endgames and such. There are more options than here at chess.com, like positional motifs, endgame tactics, guess the move and so on. It also has a soft fail option in tactics, sometimes accepting secondary choices for solving puzzles. Here on chess.com there is only one right solution.

Chessable.com

My latest favourite. I think it is the most effective site for practicing certain things thoroughly. The spaced repetition and difficult moves -system is great one to really put the concepts in your memory. I like the XP based system, where you can just go collect some points, without thinking about how it affects your different ELO ratings. It's nice alternative to all other chess websites, where you are awarded for successes and punished for mistakes (in terms of ratings). At the moment Chessable has fairly small selection of books, but the ones I have gone through have been excellent.

Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition:

Has absolutely amazing academy section, for game playthroughs with spoken analysis.

Tarrasch:

I use this to write annotations for games I play.

YouTube:

The obvious one. I use YouTube for majority of chess videos, like watching masters stream, recorded videos, game analyses, chess lessons and so on.
