Signs you have potential as a chess player

I wonder why he assumes people are on chess.com from work? I, for example, live less than a mile from where I work, and go home for lunch most days. I would think most businesses would have the site blocked so that employees aren't spending all day playing games or surfing fb.

Well this thread has taken an interesting turn I must say. If one were to try to apply a term used in the field of logic to this discussion one might say that some people here are guilty of possibly using " Godelian sentences ". Godel of course could do such a thing ( hence the name of the sentences ) however the rest of the mere mortals that populate this fun little planet would be stuck with the burden of providing verifiable proof.

I play at work. While my boss and other collegues are on facebook. Maybe I should suggest this site to my boss? :)

lets hear reasons why you have potential

Well, since you asked...I just took up chess this morning and have a ton of potential.

Only, I'm puzzled. At the opening, there are 20 choices (maybe more, I'm not sure). I am having a very hard time figuring out which makes the most sense.

I would like to get the queen out on the very first move but I'm told that that's not within the rules. Who makes up these dumb rules, anyway?

Capablanca was probably better than you or I'll ever be. And he was a drunkard, ladies-man, and stand-up comedian.

And how does being any of those things mean someone isn't intelligent?

Always move your King prawn two squares and you'll be a better player.

Yeah, but look how Bobby Fischer ended up.

Ben_Dubuque

because he moved his PAWN not PRAWN for a good game in volving that, look at Nigel Short V Kasparov

He ended up dead.... what do you have planned?

e4nf3

Maybe if he preferred something else he would have lived longer.

Laughing

At work, I have way too many things to get done to have time for games. My job runs on strict deadlines, so there just isn't time for extracurricular activities.

My dear earwig man...you know I was just pulling your string?

But, seriously, if Bobby had taken better care of his health, he might very well still be alive.

Now...if he could just have gotten over the e4 fixation...maybe, maybe...Innocent

XJesterX

well at least he moved his PRAWN.....PAWN

You can move the queen on the very first move, but first you have to declare that it's a superqueen which can teleport to any square on the board.

e4nf3

Goody. I'll give it a go!

p.s.: I aspire to attain your rating as a turn-based player. I'll bet it took plenty of coaching, practice and years of deductive and inductive reasoning...as exemplified by this Q solution. Thanks, again, many times over.

Of course you were jesting. I just wanted to provoke a reaction, to test a theory of mine. My dear earwig man answers my question. Thank you.
